An AI-song generation platform may generate something that sounds like a song, but do not mistake it for songwriting.
A children’s song made by a machine that can’t feel is not the same as a song crafted by human songwriters.
Songwriting is so much more than combining notes to sound catchy or mimicking others. It’s a human-to-human conversation, an embodied process.
By using AI to generate a song because it sounds good enough you might be missing the most important parts of the process:
The human decisions, embodied creativity and experience that make a song meaningful, memorable, child-centred and original, not bland or generic.
The infusion of the knowledge and skills of people who have played with children, taught children and communicated with children into songs that connect and surprise, not merely mimic.
Songs that children actually engage with and want to repeat.
Songs crafted by humans who ask: what is actually good for children, not just dopamine-incuding?
Children deserve better than songs made by machines. They deserve our time, consideration and attention.
So work with our songwriters – real humans and musicians who understand songwriting and pedagogy.
