Script formatting for educational media
In our previous post, we explained the importance of properly formatting scripts. For scripts for educational media, there are extra requirements that ensure the project has the very best chance of success.
1. Include learning objectives at the top of the script
If your learning objectives aren’t clearly defined, how will you know whether you’ve achieved them?
Listing the objectives at the very start provides clarity for the entire team, including editors, production managers and actors. It aligns everyone’s efforts around a shared understanding of what the script is designed to accomplish.
2. Highlight target language or key learning material
Using a yellow text background (or a similar visual cue) to mark target language or core material helps streamline the editing process.
It minimises back-and-forth communication and helps the crew and video editors quickly identify which sections are most important to get word perfect during production, particularly when there are related questions in learning materials.
